The most common thing I hear about watercolor is that it is a difficult medium. It is unforgiving. You can’t cover up your mistakes. These may be true, but that is only half of the story.
I first discovered watercolor through a YouTube artist called Agnes Cecile. Her portraits looked so beautiful and surreal, as if they were floating on a cloud. I watched her video as the paint flowed down the paper, making unique marks and patterns. It was in that moment that I said, yes. Watercolor is for me.
Here are my top 3 reasons why I choose watercolor every time.
1. Creativity unleashed
Watercolor is very versatile. You can paint loosely or tightly and get varied results, which allows experimentation with various techniques and styles. It works with the artist to bring out their personality and flair, whether it’s landscapes, portraits, or abstract art. Watercolor offers endless possibilities.
2. Getting the exact color you want:
Perhaps I am biased because I started with watercolor, but I always get the color I want. Mixing watercolor paints is very easy to do. Once you understand color mixing and a little bit of theory, it is very easy to mix and get exact colors that you envision.

3. Portability and Accessibility:
Watercolor painting is highly portable, making it convenient to practice wherever you go. It is very compact and can fit into a backpack, making it the perfect sketching or adventure companion. The accessibility of watercolor materials and their affordability makes it an excellent choice for beginners and seasoned artists alike.
Watercolor painting has numerous benefits. It keeps you creative whether you are at home or on the go. The possibilities are endless. So, grab your brushes, immerse yourself in the flow of colors, and let watercolor painting enchant you with its beauty.
